When to Harvest

When to Harvest

Jorie Lott |

This time of year the discussion always turns to when you should harvest your plants. Some gardeners argue that waiting for 70-80% of the pistles on your plant to wilt or turn brown is the perfect time. A more precise way to determine ripeness is using a loupe or magnifying glass to examine the color and consistency of the trichome heads. This will tell you exactly how ripe your plant is. Trichomes that are clear need more time to develop and conversely, trichomes that are more amber in color have fully matured and are beginning to oxidize.
