How to Use Down To Earth Alfalfa Meal:

Roses:

• Existing Roses: Apply ½-1 cup per plant in early spring, mixing into the soil surface. Repeat when blooms appear and again in the fall (using half the spring amount).
• New Roses: Add ½-1 cup per planting hole, mix thoroughly, and water well.

Vegetable Gardens & Flower Beds:

• New Gardens: Apply 5-10 lbs per 100 sq ft, incorporating into the top 3 inches of soil.
• New Transplants: Add 1-2 tbsp per hole, mix into the soil, and water thoroughly.
• Established Plants: Side dress with ½ cup monthly during the growing season.

Containers:

• New Plantings: Add 2-4 tbsp per gallon of soil (or 5 lbs per cubic yard) and mix thoroughly.
