Beneficial Parasitic Wasps for Whitefly Control

Encarsia formosa and Eretmocerus eremicus combine two beneficial wasp species for biological control of greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) and tobacco whitefly (Bemisia tabaci). Supplied as pupae on cards or in blister packs, they can be introduced into greenhouses, indoor growing spaces, and outdoor crops.

These tiny parasitoids develop in whitefly nymphs, killing their hosts as they mature. Adult females also kill whitefly nymphs through host feeding. The combination brings both species into your whitefly management program in a single release product.

Release and Handling

  • Release promptly upon arrival. Follow the supplied instructions for release rates, repeat applications, and any temporary storage.
  • Distribute cards or blister packs throughout the crop, placing them within the plant canopy near whitefly activity.
  • Keep release points shaded and protected from direct sunlight and water exposure.
  • Handle cards gently to avoid dislodging or damaging the pupae. Prepare blister packs for emergence according to the supplied instructions.
  • Check pesticide compatibility and residual effects before introducing the wasps.
  • Monitor whitefly activity to guide follow-up releases.
