Amblyseius cucumeris, also known as Neoseiulus cucumeris, is a beneficial predatory mite used for biological control of young thrips larvae. Introduce these mites early, while pest pressure is low, to help manage thrips before populations build.

These predators primarily feed on first-stage thrips larvae and can also feed on pollen. They do not control adult thrips, so established infestations may require additional biological controls that target other life stages. Cucumeris also feeds on some pest mites and can complement dedicated spider mite predators.

Choosing a Release Format

• Loose material: Bottles and bags allow direct distribution onto plant foliage.
• Mini sachets: Hook and stick options provide placement points throughout the crop for gradual mite release.
• Breeder material: A separate bulk breeding format is available; follow its specific application directions.

Application Guidance

• Begin releases preventatively or when thrips populations are low.
• Gently rotate loose-material containers to distribute the mites through the carrier, then sprinkle onto plant foliage according to the supplied directions.
• Position sachets within the canopy where mites can move onto plant material, protected from direct sunlight.
• Keep sachets intact. Do not squeeze, puncture, or tear them open; mites leave through the existing exit hole.
• Follow the supplied product instructions for release quantities, spacing, and repeat applications. Requirements vary with crop, pest pressure, and product format; loose-mite rates should not be applied to sachets.
