Beneficial Parasitic Wasps for Whitefly Control
Eretmocerus eremicus helps control greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) and tobacco whitefly (Bemisia tabaci). Available on cards or in blister packs, these tiny parasitoid wasps target whitefly nymphs as part of a biological pest management program.
Females lay their eggs beneath whitefly nymphs. After hatching, the wasp larvae enter their hosts and develop inside them, killing the whiteflies. Adult females also kill whitefly nymphs through host feeding.
Release and Handling
- Release promptly upon arrival. Follow the supplied product instructions for release rates, repeat applications, and any temporary storage.
- Distribute cards throughout the treatment area, placing them on plants near whitefly activity.
- Hang cards with the pupae facing toward the plant, protected from direct sunlight and sprays.
- Handle cards gently to avoid crushing or dislodging the pupae.
- Prepare and position blister packs according to the instructions supplied with that format.
