CMH or ceramic metal halide grow lights uses a ceramic arc tube, similar to high-pressure sodium lights. CMH—sometimes referred to as LECs or light emitting ceramic in brands like Sun System—give off a natural color, are long-lasting, and produce more light per watt than its contemporaries. CMH lighting systems are a plus for both commercial growers and hobbyists who need higher power per watt, but care to conserve energy. Because of their ceramic tube design, these bulbs and fixtures can reach higher temperatures, to produce a light that plants thrive in. Not only are they efficient money savers, but their light spectrum closely resembles the sun. By producing such a range of light, you can see your plants in their natural colors, away from the common, although unnatural, purple or yellow lights. Your plants will love the UV-B rays produced, and you’ll be able to quickly spot problems in your crop if they arise.
